This Fri. at 7 p.m., the Heritage Center Art Gallery (314 Laskin Rd., VB) hosts the opening of an estate art show, on view through July 3, featuring the works of George Laakso (1918-1981; pictured above) and his wife, Ruth (1920-2007; below). The international, Virginia Beach-based artists established the Studio Gallery and participated in many Boardwalk Art Shows. George’s award-winning art includes the monumental chandelier at the A.R.E., and Kalevala—a body of work honoring Finnish mythology, in storage since 1981, to be featured at the event. Ruth’s lush landscapes will also be shown along with works by artist Don Watson. Call 428-0110 x 4200 for details.

Dianne Hottenstein for her pottery; and Michael Farrar for his drawings.
